The Scope of the Victory

The Washington Post’s coverage of Trump was as biased as I have seen during a campaign.  It did not outdo the NYT, but neither did it make much of an effort to resemble neutral journalism.  It was one snarky, condescending article after the next. I’m expecting oddles of sour grapes over the next few days.  For now, however, it does an accurate, short summary of the extent of Trump’s victory:

ALBANY, NY– Court Rules Cuomo Administration Failed to Comply with FOIL Request- Orders Immediate Compliance

The Shooters Committee on Political Education (SCOPE) announced today the decision in the case of Robinson v. Cuomo, signed by the Hon. Thomas J. McNamara of the New York Supreme Court, Albany County. The Court has directed the immediate release of 15 categories of statistical records from the New York State Division of State Police on the “assault weapons” registry.

The case was filed in October 2014 to pursue records originally requested in January 2014, and the Court’s decision was issued on April 30, 2015.

BILL ROBINSON, Petitioner,

ANDREW CUOMO, in his official capacity as Governor of the State of New York; NEW YORK DIVISION OF STATE POLICE; and JOSEPH D’AMICO, in his official capacity as Superintendent of the New York Division of State Police, Respondents.

Among the records that must now immediately be provided to Robinson, who is also a member of SCOPE, are:

— the number of “assault weapons” registered with the NYS Police on or after January 15, 2013;

— the total number of individuals who submitted applications to register “assault weapons” on or after January 15, 2013; and

— a breakdown of statistical information relating to registrations by county, zip code, or other geographic identifier.
