A have-a-go-hero lies bleeding on the pavement with a knife lying beside him after he was stabbed by a teenage thug in a terrifying daylight attack.
Graphic pictures show the 25-year-old victim lying motionless on the ground and drenched in blood after being knifed in the leg and arm.
The man, who has not been named, was attacked after he tried to help a teenage girl who he saw being slapped in the face by a school-aged yob.
Jason Foy and his fiancee Kylie Bickley witnessed the aftermath of the attack which happened in Orphanage Road, Erdington, Birmingham, at 5.15pm on Sunday.

The father-of-two from Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, said: ‘I was driving round Sutton Coldfield to go for a meal and we saw this young bloke on the floor with a knife would and blood everywhere.
‘There were gangs of teenage bikers cycling around causing trouble.
‘We stopped and went over to see if we could help. Kylie dashed out the car with a muslin cloth and I used a belt to tighten it around the wound to try and stop it bleeding.

‘Apparently the lad saw one of the teenage bikers hit a teenage girl so he tried to help, but ended up getting stabbed and left for dead.
‘He was drifting in and out of consciousness but looked really shocked. The knife was lying covered in blood next to him on the ground. He could have easily been killed.’
Jason was with his fiancee Kylie, 28, and their three-year-old son and six-week-old daughter, when they stopped to help the victim.

Office-worker Jason added: ‘Apparently it was one of the mouthy lads in the group that did it and then threw his knife. But the size of the knife was terrifying.
‘I can’t believe teenage kids are going round with these sort of weapons.
‘It shook me up for three or four hours. We didn’t get much sleep on Sunday night.
‘Luckily when it happened the children were asleep as we had been driving around.
‘We might have saved the guys life. With a cut artery it can take seconds to bleed out.
‘I’m sure anyone else in the same position would do the same thing.’
An ambulance was called and took the man to hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: ‘We are appealing for information after a man was stabbed in Erdington.
‘Officers were called to Orphanage Road at around 5.15pm following reports that three men had approached the 25-year-old and stabbed him in the leg.
‘One attacker made off on a push bike and the other two left the scene in a dark coloured vehicle.
‘The victim was taken to hospital and continues to be treated for his injuries which are described as serious but not believed to be life threatening.
‘Detectives investigating the attack are trawling CCTV and continue to establish the motive for the attack.’
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: ‘We were called at 5.17pm to Orphanage Road in Erdington to reports of a stabbing. We sent a single ambulance which was on scene in a little over four minutes.
‘The victim was a male in his 20s with a thigh injury and an arm injury.
‘The crew assisted the man and treated him on scene and have then taken him on blue lights to hospital. He was there in 15 minutes.
