TAOYUAN, TAIWAN – In Taiwan, police have finally located and arrested a woman wanted for the murder of her own child.
Ms. Wu, age 30, is being accused of murdering her own 3 month old son. In 2013, Ms. Wu became pregnant by a foreign national from Paraguay.
The two didn’t marry and eventually broke up. Ms. Wu gave birth to the baby boy several months later, but felt that the baby was an evil spirit there to punish her for her failure to abstain from premarital sex.
When her son was just 3-months-old Ms. Wu beat him to death, because she was frustrated by his continual crying. She then wrapped him in blankets and carried his tiny body over 250 miles to the city of Taidong, where she buried him inside a small black carry-on suitcase.
A farmer’s wife later discovered the tiny body after it had been dug up by wild dogs who were eating it.
Police began tracing the origins of the baby boy and were eventually able to track Ms. Wu down due to birth records. However, Ms. Wu hadn’t returned home after burying her son. Instead she began wandering around the country and living on the streets.
Police finally located and arrested her late last year. Ms. Wu is going to receive a psyche evaluation before a court date is set.
